Most Valuable Franchisees Awarded for Industry Excellence
Multi-Unit Franchisee Magazine Announces MVP Awards for 2010
SAN JOSE, Calif., March 24, 2010 - Multi-Unit Franchisee Magazine today announced the winners of the first annual Multi-Unit Franchisee MVP (Most Valuable Player) Awards, which recognize exceptional multi-unit franchisees. This year's MVP award winners are: Bill Ramsey, Schlotzky's franchisee; Gary Hughes, ColorTyme and RimTyme franchisee; Glenn Mueller, Domino's franchisee; and Anil Yadav, Jack in the Box, Denny's, and Marcos Pizza franchisee.
"Multi-Unit Franchisee Magazine congratulates this year's MVP winners. These exceptional multi-unit franchisees have demonstrated outstanding performance and innovation in growing their organizations and brands," said Therese Thilgen, president of Franchise Update Media Group, the magazine's publisher.
Mr. Ramsey has been part of the Schlotzky's system since 1994, and operates seven restaurants in Oklahoma. Under his leadership, new menu items have been created, including the large dinner pizza, and he helped design sandwich production systems that have been implemented system-wide. His units achieved record-breaking sales in 2009. He plans on expanding by six more restaurants in Oklahoma and co-branding with Cinnabon Express in certain locations.
Owner of the highest volume ColorTyme for six straight years, Mr. Hughes has established a new benchmark and award level for the system. He has been a franchisee for 20 years, and has been named "franchisee of the year" five times, including 2009. He has owned as many as 33 stores across seven states, led the way for seven current and former employees to become franchisees, and developed a new financial services product that was adopted by the parent company and is now used in more than 350 stores.
Mr. Mueller's 134-store franchise is the leading pizza delivery company in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Known as an innovator, he was the first Domino's franchisee to develop and open stores with drive-thru windows, modular building stores, carry-out only stores, and stores within convenience stores. His was the first pizza company to make an automatic courtesy call to each customer to let them know when the driver was leaving the store with their order. Immediately following Hurricane Katrina, he helped organize "Domino's Pizza Volunteers," and contributed 38,000 pizzas to emergency teams, hospital workers and survivors throughout the community.
Mr. Yadav started as a Jack in the Box crew member in 1984, and now operates 129 units in California and Texas. He recently acquired 26 Denny's restaurants and just signed a multi-unit deal with Marcos Pizza. Along the way, he has gone from being the youngest franchisee at Jack in the Box to the largest, and is dedicated to "growing" his people. As his company grows, he creates new opportunities for the best people in his organization, and is more than happy to promote from within, just as he had been early in his career. He enjoys sharing his business knowledge with his employees, so they can learn from him and achieve success in life.
